Rainbugs 2.2: Birthdays, parties and toads

So, Rainbugs!  Picture quality will vary because I’m getting used to the new computer and its shiny new graphics settings.   I’m glad that, for all that the previous laptop was shite performance-wise, it could at least deliver on the graphics front – hopefully you won’t notice many differences.

Aside from the obvious.  Snowy Owl kicks off the new life in a new computer with the birthday dance.  Look, Snowy!  Widescreen!

Rainbugs: State of the Union post

It’s been a long time since my last update, and the real reason is that my computer just couldn’t handle TS3.  I used to have a decent gaming laptop a few years back, until my father tried to fix something on it and broke it so badly it wouldn’t start up.

Since then I have been subsisting on my grandfather’s old laptop, and TS3 was about the most it could possibly handle – on a good day.  On a bad day (i.e. most days) it would repeatedly crash, give me error 12s, or otherwise be a complete pain in the butt.  It got to the point where it genuinely was upsetting me.

So I stopped playing TS3 for a while.  In that time, however, I had a birthday.  And I decided that my birthday present to myself would be a shiny new computer with an actual proper dedicated graphics card.

This computer has now arrived.  This computer is now my joy and my light.  (Or at least it will be until the first Windows crash, which will happen because I have no faith in Microsoft at all).

I’m in the process of installing TS3, expansions and stuff packs onto the new computer.  There’s a lot of them!  The computer is fast, but I also have to work and eat and sleep in the meantime, so it’ll be a little bit longer before I’m actually in a place where I can play TS3 again.

And then there shall be Rainbugs!

Rainbugs 2.1: Does it come in white?

After the longer-than-usual update last time (and the longer-than-usual delay in between), let’s see what the family are up to at the moment.

Rainbugs 1.6: It’s a kinda magic

Last time we left on Charcoal meeting her beau Arron for a date, only to find out that he’d aged up into a young adult quite literally ONE DAY after aging up from a child into a teen.

What.  The.  Hell.

They had a good time on their “date” regardless, and Charcoal got home quite late, needing to spend some quality time with her bed–

Oh fer crap’s sake.  Are burglars magnetically attracted to the Rainbugs?

Rainbugs 1.5: I hate zombies.

So, last chapter Otis the Wonderdog passed on into the doggie afterlife, and everyone was devastated.

Tomas: Cheer up, my love!  Otis would not want us to be sad.

Sharon: *sniff*  But the reminders are everywhere…

Sharon: This would never have happened if Otis was here!

Rainbugs 1.4: Birthdays, zombies and Simbots, oh my!

We left last time on Coca and Cola’s birthday, just about to age up into responsible young adults.

Wow, Cola.  That outfit is … coordinated and actually kind of nice.

Rainbugs 1.3: Let’s do the time warp again

Woah, long time no update.  Long story short: new job was busier than imagined, so I ended up working approx. 60-70 hours per week, with weekends on top.  Massively draining, but awesome for overtime pay.  It’s calmed down now, so back to simming!

I had some of this post written quite a while ago, so apologies in advance if the flow abruptly changes mid-post.

I just picked up the PS3 game Catherine.  It is weird, addictive, and so difficult.  Go play it!  *ahem* Assuming you’re over the appropriate age rating in your country.  Yes.  Moving on…

Rainbugs 1.2: Livin’ in a box

Sorry for the delay in updates – I’ve just started a new job, and I’ve managed to start at their busiest time of the year, i.e. we’re currently operating on a 39-hour+ working week plus weekends.  On the plus side, it’s only for a short time and I get overtime pay.

Anyway, welcome back to the Rainbugs!

Sharon: OMG that’s a vampire watching me perform OMG mustn’t mess up or she’ll EAT ME.

Sharon: I messed up.

Vampire lady: Eh, I would eat you, but I’m about to burst into flames so imma go now, k?

Rainbugs 1.1: Roll on gen black

Last time, we saw the birth of Coca and Cola Rainbug, the first of Generation Black.

We open with two birthdays:

For some reason, both Coca and Cola decided they wanted to age up by the front door, despite there being a perfectly serviceable (and empty) nursery right in front of their cribs.

They also both decided to age up with stinky nappies and scream the place down.

But they’re not identical!  Yay!

They do, however, appear to be clones of their mother.  Hmm.  I’m not sure Prettacys are supposed to be this easy…

Cola’s my favourite at the moment because she got her father’s acid green eyes.

Rainbugs 0.1: Founder!

I’ve been sad that I can’t play the Winty Legacy, but I’ve been surviving on a netbook with barely any graphics card at all for the last while so I’m just happy that I can play TS3 again.  I got Showtime to celebrate!

Starlight Shores is quite an interesting neighbourhood, and since there are so many pretty Sims about I thought it was a great opportunity to try a prettacy.  Except that would be boring on its own, so I’ll be doing a Rainbow Prettacy!

With that in mind, say hello to our founder, Tomas Rainbug:

I originally called him Tomas Conk, but then the aim is to eventually breed the nose out, so Rainbug was more appropriate.  Poor Tomas.  With a nose that could break glass that doesn’t-quite-hide a terrible overbite, small eyes, sunken cheeks and barn doors for ears, he’s going to have fun trying to find a spouse…
